    As the first contractors to go abroad, the Sezai Turkes-Feyzi Akkaya duo have opened doors in foreign countries to the sector, and have aroused interest with their new methods, machines and application processes that have found their way into literature in the construction field. For instance, in the construction of the Erzincan Railway, binding violin-strings to bridge number 44 and tuning them to the "la" sound to check for excess tension in the steel elements was the forerunner of the "Meihak Gauge" used today for the same job. From an interest in ground investigation boring and pile driving the "Difficulty Coefficient" was put forward, and has developed into a practical and accurate method for determining the pile shank that has been used successfully for many years. The Sezai Turkes-Feyzi Akkaya duo have made over 500 discoveries in the engineering sector over their working lives. A number of these findings have entered into engineering literature, and others have become known as the Turkish thesis. Feyzi Akkaya took a first from the Civil Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University.
